Designing furniture that can fit into contemporary homes but is also designed to serve typical Indian habits
Indians like to lounge and sprawl, put our feet up and like that little extra space.
Continuing the line of enquiry set out in the brief - the Indian habit… we researched the various ways in which Indians like to sit comfortably.
Indians like to lounge and sprawl, put our feet up and like that little extra space. We appreciate authenticity in materials and craftsmanship. Idiom took these ideas to create Aasan – the wide body single sofa and set, perfect for an Indian drawing room
Successive rounds of prototyping and testing led to resolution and refinement of the design
The final product was given cane weave on all exterior faces as well as interior armrest faces and an oxford weave cotton for the cushions. It is a simple five piece assembly that can be achieved in 5 to 7 minutes with just bare hands and an Allen key.
